In my small opinion, if you want a tough tire, You definitely already have a great tire, but out of all the tires I've ran, On mud, the Grabber X3 is a superb tire, capable of providing plenty of performance. General designed it to be an excellent off-roading tire, and it delivers on that front. The brand has plenty of tire options, among which is the Grabber X3. Nitto trails in my opinion are a pretty good tire as you have noticed. From the US brand lineup, we have General, which has been making excellent tires for quite a while. Have previously ran BFG KM2s, BFG KO2s, Goodyear MT/Rs, duratrac, Nitto muds, and various Interco TSLs and bogger. That said, if you want a good mud tire, the only real mud tire is an Interco Super Swamper TSL/Bogger, everything else is an all terrain compared to those tires. I've ran the nitto trail and currently have the Cooper STT Pro. On lots a rocks, I see that maybe being problem. The STT Pro being more mud oriented, obviously you want a sidewall lug design to want to grab everything around it. I ran my current STT Pros alongside a BFG KO2, and in loose gravel steep hill climbs, they were both great, but the KO2 sidewall definetly slides over rocks, where the STT Pros grabs onto whatever is around and tries to hold on.īoth of those tire designs have their positives and negatives. The sidewall has some sharp edges to the lugs that can get sliced. They create a very nice, flat and long footprint. I see General Tire has just introduced a Grabber X3 M/T tire. I've put them down to 12 psi, and ran them over some sharp rocks on hill climbs. Ive learned to appreciate the assurance of their sure-footed traction and puncture-resistance off-road, but I have grown tired of their stiff ride, flighty handling and marginal winter performance on-road.
